Liebster Award 2018 2.0

Good grief, I just finished this thing and I get to do it again! But at least the questions are different each time, so it won't too boring.

Thanks to Jules for tagging me for this thing! If you haven't check out her blog yet, you have problems definitely should.

~The Rules~

1. Thank the person who tagged you (see above!)
2. Answer the 11 questions they gave you
3.Give 11 facts about yourself
4. Nominate 11 other bloggers (I'm a rebel. I'm not nominating specific people.)
5. Give them 11 questions to answer

Onto the questions:

1.  Would you rather never eat a taco again, or never eat pizza again?

Never eat a taco again. Tacos are good, but pizza is basically life in my house. Besides, who would want to live without pizza? #sadlife

Now you have me hungry for pizza. Thank goodness, that's what's for dinner.

2.  If you had to completely remove a character from one of your books, who would it be and why?

This is easy. I would remove Kell (and am planning to) because she was supposed to have a bigger part in The Herbalist's War, but her part was given to someone else. So yeah, bye bye!

3.  What sounds more fun to learn - sign language or braille?

Sign language. I really want my family to learn this because all of the members are either hard of hearing or soft-spoken (me being soft-spoken, I'm always fussed at for not talking loud enough. And then poor mom can't talk louder, so I often have to jump in and talk for her because no one else can hear her). Communication is a nightmare. WE NEED SIGN LANGUAGE! Did I make myself clear?

4.  Who is your least favorite fictional character? (Feel free to unleash a rant!)

Jules, you know better than to ask me this... It's Elsie Dinsmore. *insert so much screaming**smash my head against my desk* I can't stand her. Bleh. I might wait and save the rant for another day. I don't have the mental willpower to do it today. Besides, that's a whole post in and of itself.

5.  How did you pick your blogging name (what made you pick a pen name or go with your real name)?

I'm Sarah. I always have been and I always will be. I don't even really stick to my last name. It's only Sarah. Though I've grown accustomed to Miss Sarah now that I teach Sunday School to young children. Their parents insist upon it, or else I'd be fine with them calling me strictly by my first name. But that's about as far as I go. Don't call me ma'am. Don't call me Ms. Rodecker. Just Sarah. Any other name is just plain wrong.

6.  What song could you listen to on repeat and never grow tired of?

Uhh... SO MANY SONGS!!! I'll list three (I don't know if it's my top three or not, just whatever comes to mind first).

1. Green Lights by NF
2. Bleed the Same by Mandisa
3. Uncharted by The Piano Guys

7.  What song have you listened to on repeat and actually grown tired of?

Uhh... SO MANY SONGS!!! Let's see... There were a lot of songs that I listened to a lot as a kid that I would probably scream if I heard them now, but none of the titles or artists come to mind.

Oh wait, I know at least one that I've played on repeat and am now so sick and tired of it. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Heard it a million times. Probably played it a million times, too.  #suzukikidprobs

8.  Favorite horse breed?  (Or color, if you're not a horsey person.)

Purple. And light blue. And dark green. And black. And yeah... Lots of colors. I'm a color person.

But if I had to pick a breed, it would be TWH. No question. Even though I'm selling my little horse and I'm decidedly less horsey than I was ten years ago, they'll always have a place in my heart.

My majestic baby
9.  First Bible verse you ever memorized?

I think it was either Psalm 1 or 23. Or both. Can't remember exactly. Yes, I know they're passages and not single verses. Whatever.

10.  What's a game you would play anytime?

I enjoy crushing my parents at Words With Friends. My dad hates it because he used to be the Scrabble champ in our house and is furious with the scoring on WWF. Me, on the other hand? I'm loving it. MWHAAHAHHAHAHA!

I also like card games. Preferably the violent ones, such as War, Uno, and Blink. I  enjoy board games too, like Monopoly, Risk, and stuff like that. I like games, y'all.

And as you can see, I have an obsession with games that evoke rage. A lot. I most often lose to my little brother, but I still enjoy them. It's most fun when we gang up on my sister and make her lose. And then we brutally destroy each other until one is obliterated.

Unfortunately, we only have about three people who will play games and most require at least four. Sometimes we pick one of the pets and we play for them. #patheticmuch

Needless to say, I love it when I have people over to play games with. But that's not often. And then they get mad because my siblings and I are brutal. What can I say? We take our gaming very seriously.

Oh yeah, and I love four puck air hockey. #madness

I told you I like games. I'd better move on, or else we'll be here all day.

11.  Provide a link to your favorite post on your blog.

Oh, that's easy. That's definitely From My Heart to Yours. A close second would be the Aesthetic post I did for the 5-Part Writing Special (which happens to be my most popular post right now).

~The Prying Facts~

I decided to keep my eleven facts about my writing only (because I already gave you eleven facts about myself).

1. I've written a mystery. It was awful, but I'm determined to try my hand at writing another at some point. Younger me was brave. I want to be brave too.

2. I've written eight novels (okay, almost eight. But the last one is rushing to the finish line as we speak, so it counts). I have two others coming along, one of which is SSaS.

3. I used to be awful at spelling. I had to ask my dad how to spell 'use'. Repeatedly. And he was a spelling champ growing up. Imagine his embarrassment. And imagine my shock that I'm not horrible at it anymore.

4. The Reylance Trilogy was supposed to be a play. So glad that changed, 'cause this girl knows nothing about theater. Not to mention most of the characters were named/based off of my farm animals. #eyeroll Though I might try writing a script again at some point. Brave writing and all.

5. I used to say I couldn't/wouldn't do NaNo. Also glad this changed. Now my writing life revolves around the three NaNo events.

6. I've written a book in two weeks. I don't recommend this and I don't look forward to editing that one. *shudders* Thankfully, it's pretty low on my priority list so I don't have to worry about it for a while.

7. I am the #worst with journaling. I want to stick with it so bad, but I'm so terrible. Mostly, I think, because I decide to do it at night when I'm completely exhausted so I just jot down a few choppy sentences and that's that. Kinda boring. But I'm trying to do better. Maybe it'll help clear my mind more.

8. I used to write everything by hand. My first two novels were hand-written. Most of my short stories from my early writing days were as well. I have lots of composition notebooks filled with the scribblings of my life. I don't hand-write my stories anymore (you can tell because my handwriting isn't as neat), but I write most of my notes by hand. It helps my creative process.

9. I don't think I've ever written in a coffee shop, but I really want to. We live in the middle of nowhere, so we have to drive a while to get to one. My brother usually gets Fridays off, so I'm thinking of seeing if he wants to go into town sometimes to write at one (he's a hobby writer). He might go for it if I buy coffee for him.

10. I write best early in the morning. My brain is at a creative high in the mornings. Around 5:30 is best if I can bother getting up then. I know I function best at that time, yet I still sleep past it most days. But I'm working towards getting up earlier.

11. I've always written a bookworm into my stories. Or a bookdragon, I guess, is what we're calling them these days. They're the best characters to write. I guess it's sort of an easter egg to look out for, though those are usually supposed to be harder to find.

~The Re-Tag~

I tag anyone looking for something easy to post during Camp NaNo. Here are my questions.

1. What is your favorite book that you've written?

2. Which was the easiest character to write?

3. What is the oddest story idea you've had?

4. What is the most embarrassing story that you've written?

5. What was one scene that made you feel all the feels?

6. What kinds of research do you tend to do for your stories?

7. Which character's name is your favorite?

8. What was the most audacious goal you've ever completed?

9. Plotter or Pantser (or a mix)?

10. Favorite office supply?

11. Favorite place to go for ideas?

So, did you like my snarky answers? What's your favorite game? What the most writerly fact about yourself? And who wants me to write a post ranting about ED? Probably no one, but I thought I might ask.

  1. NF, his music is so good! I remember my family having some pretty intense Uno and Risk games.

    1. Yes! I really love how his music is relatable. It's not just some fluffy motivation stuff. It's raw and awesome!

LOL, Same. We're horribly competitive when it comes to games.

  4. This is GREAT! I love of all your answers! And I COMPLETELY agree with the pizza thing (that's on the menu for tonight! haha). Ditto on sign language! I think it's of great benefit to know, and quite easy to learn. :]

Awww, your horsey is gorgeous! I had a lovely horse by the name of Comet years ago. She was part TN Walker, and part Paso Fino -- so beautiful and so sweet! <3 Your love of games is hilarious! I particularly enjoy Rook and Uno myself, among Candyland (as long as there's candy/popcorn/whatever scattered over the board), and even Dominion. Such a great alternative to video games!

Your writerly facts are incredible! I'm one of those who rarely finishes a draft. . . *facepalm* But I'm working on that! Thanks to NaNo and Camp. :]

Great post, dearie! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yes, I would love to learn it. It would be so helpful, not only with my family, but in the world in general.

Thanks! He's a beauty. Pasos are awesome, too! I like just about any gaited horse.

I definitely prefer board/card games to video games.

Thanks. I have a hard time editing (though it's getting easier now that I'm having to), but I do love writing stories. NaNo events definitely helped me in that area!
