How We Rise Blog Tour//Guest Post by Brooke Riley

Happy Wednesday, y'all! Today I'm doing something special and turning over the keyboard to Brooke Riley from Words In Her Soul so she call tell you all about her new release, How We Rise! I know she's had loads of ups and downs in her journey to get this book out and I'm really proud of her for getting to this point!

Without further ado, I'll let Brooke take over!

Hey, everyone! It's Brooke taking over Sarah's blog! I'm here to talk about my debut novel, How We Rise! This novel has been a long time coming and after many complications, it's going to be out in the world!

So, y'all may remember that I was going to originally be published on July 15th. But, there were some technical issues on my end, and after a lot of contemplation and thinking, it was decided an earlier date would be a better idea. Especially right now, so many people are reading books and they want books as soon as possible.

Ultimately, I decided to release it on May 19th, which is also my birthday!

Tuesdays are often the day new books are published, and I wanted to get everything resolved as soon as possible.

You may be wondering what my book is about. If I'm honest, I still have a hard time answering this question when people ask me. In ten words, I would say my book is about:

action//adventure//friendship//rebellion//love//hope//light in the darkness

How We Rise is a dystopian novel, but it's not your typical dystopian. This novel takes place in the near future, and it has contemporary vibes as well. I wanted to mash-up genres and write a dystopian unlike any I've seen. So many dystopian novels take place in the distant future and the main complaint I've seen from many readers is love triangles, or the romantic subplot taking over, or the world was too difficult to understand.

I didn't want to do that. (Of course, there is romance, but in this book, it is very light. Some readers have said too light, haha. Gotta keep you on your toes. 😉)

I wanted to create characters who are raw and human, who people can relate to. I wanted to create ship worthy ships and people you could root for.

And I'm hoping that's exactly what I did.

This book has been about six years in the making! And it all started when I had a conversation with my dad as we stood out in our front yard one evening.

I hope you'll be willing to give my book a chance. It's available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other book retailers online. If you'd like, request the book at your local library. Request it at your book stores. Spread the word that my book exists so other retailers will get physical copies in.

Thank you, everyone, for the support and love! I'm so excited to be releasing my book out into the world!

And thank you, Sarah, for having me on your blog!

And to all of Sarah's readers,

Stay Amazing!

~ Brooke

Brooke Riley has been seriously writing novels since she was fifteen, the thrill of creating new worlds and broken humans with a greater purpose is something that inspired her to begin writing in the first place. Before then, she hated writing but loved books and literature. She's always been drawn to new worlds and fascinating books. Not limiting herself to one genre, you will find she writes in dystopian one day, contemporary another day, and even historical the day after that.

When she's not writing, Brooke is probably thinking of some random idea for a new novel that's come to her in the most inconvenient of times, and how soon she can make a Pinterest board and Spotify playlist for it.
