WIP Special Part One//Introduction

Welcome to day one of NaNo and to the first post of this round of the WIP Special!

This time around, we decided to do some fun things for our questions, but we still had to have the normal introductory post where we scream at you about our project because #whynot

Anyway, I'm very excited to introduce my story more in depth today. It's one that snuck up on me, but I think it's going to be a fun one to write.

Onto the questions!

~If you have a book cover, torture your readers by making them scroll forever to see it. If you do not have a book cover, describe your dream cover~

Lol, Snapper suggested this and nearly deleted it, but I was like "WAIT! I'm sooooo here for making people scroll endlessly!" so we left it in. You're welcome to yell at me.

TA-DA!

~Provide a blurb~

Run, run, run as fast as you can. You’ll never catch me, I’m the Gingerhaired girl. Simon’s broadcasts aren’t the only thing terrorizing the city of Atlanta. In the aftermath of kangaroo court resulting in an execution, the individuals involved find their lives threatened as a serial killer known as the Gingerhaired Girl starts killing them off. Vio Biena, the young attorney who fought against Ginger’s brother, securing his execution, finds the Pax Custos at her doorstep to take her into police protection. Only, the Gingerhaired Girl has little interest in killing Vio. Instead, she kidnaps Vio’s sister and threatens to kill her if Vio doesn’t find her in time. As she races against the clock to save her sister, Vio begins to wonder if her actions were really motivated by good desires, or if they were twisted by Simon’s ideology. And, if so, does Vio deserve to get away alive?

~Share some aesthetics~

~How long did it take you to flesh out the story enough to feel prepared to use it for NaNo?~

Not nearly as long as I would have liked. I just finished outlining it last month, when I normally like having the rough outline done in April and then I can start finding inspo pics on Pinterest and flesh out the scenes in my head.

I didn't even have the idea until July, I think. June at the earliest.

Alas, I am woefully unprepared for this NaNo. Perhaps it'll be good. Likely will be terrible.

~Is it a standalone or part of a series?~

It is a book in a series of companion novels. So basically, they're connected somehow, but you can read them separately and still enjoy them.

~How did you get the idea for this story?~

As I mentioned in the Know the Novel linkup, I actually don't remember how I got the idea. All I remember is mulling over "The Gingerbread Man" and thinking about how it would be a great idea for a serial killer story.

Also, I had a recurring nightmare that was the inspiration behind the inciting incident.

~What song or selection of lyrics best describes the general aesthetic of your story?~

Is it cheating to just leave it at "The Gingerbread Man"? Or should I pick something else?

~What made you decide to write this book for NaNo?~

It wouldn't stop screaming at me.

~What are your publishing plans for this book?~

Just like with all of my longer books, I'd like to have it traditionally published. Of course, there are some things I'd like to see happen with each of the books in the series format-wise, so if I can't find a publisher that also feels strongly about it too, I may have to self-pub. But that'll probably be a last resort for me.

There you have it! An intro to my newest book baby. I've very excited to see where we go together.
