The Seven-Seven-Seven-Seven Challenge

Jules over at Saver of Memories tagged me for this thing. I was really hoping she would because it sounded like so much fun! Anyway, from her prompting, I decided to showcase The Herbalist's War even though it's not my official WIP because I'm using it for the 5-Part Special. And it's awesome, too. That's a plus.

The rules are pretty simple

1. Go to the seventh page of your WIP.
2. Go to the seventh line.
3. Share the next seven paragraphs.
4. Tag seven people.

~The Snippet~

A little background on this scene because it's a weird place to start: Garrett and Annie are running (or walking and being carried, as the case may be) away from the bad guys. Also, this is the story in all its first draft glory. I haven't touched it a bit since I wrote it. Enjoy!

"Suddenly, I was swept off my feet. Garrett grinned down at me. “Hanging in there?” He asked.

“Trying.” I croaked. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” My head dropped back, my body too weak to hold it up.

He moved his elbow to cradle my head. “I think I saw them put something in the water they gave you. Probably some sort of drug.”

I groaned. “How ironic.”

He snorted. “I know.” He ducked under low hanging branches and kept on.

Our conversation ended as I drifted in and out of consciousness. Whatever it was, it was strong. I was thankful Garrett had come when he did. The Sirens apparently did not want me for my herbalist skills. If they didn’t want me for that, what did they want me for?

Garrett carried me for what seemed to be an hour or two. Rain started to fall. Soon my hair and face were soaked. I looked up at his face. It was tight with concentration and exhaustion. His dark hair stuck to his face like a mop."
